1c-90c 1857-60 Issue, Manuscript Lines (20/39-S var). Incl. two 1c, one 1c and 3c black pen cross-strokes, others with magenta, few flawsFINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE COMPLETE SET OF THE 1857-60
ISSUE WITH CROSS-STROKE CONTROL MARKS. HIGHLY SUITABLE FOR EXHIBITION. The magenta lines were applied in pen and ink to all values of the 1857-60 Issue at the same time, apparently while the stamps were still in sheets. They are very scarce. One
explanation for their existence is that they were created for salesmen's sample books. (Image) Search for comparables at SiegelAuctions.com |
