#93, 2c Black, "F" grill, an incomparable used example, being in an overall quality that would be impossible to improve upon, as this gem features mathematically
precise centering amid incredibly large margins, the size of which is almost never encountered on this stamp, lovely fresh color and a crisp detailed impression, bold grid postmark, superb; this is quite likely the finest quality used Two Cent
"F" Grill in existence, an opinion apparently shared by the Professional Stamp Experts, as they have awarded it the highest grade to date; 1992 PF certificate and a 2009 PSE certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $2,800.00); not only the highest grade
given to this stamp, but also the only example to grade Superb 98; ex-"Connoisseur". (Image) |

#95, 5c Brown, "F" grill, the stamp offered here is the finest used Five Cent "F" Grill we have ever offered in our auctions, as it features remarkable physical
traits that are the exact opposite of what one normally expects on this incredibly difficult stamp, perfectly centered within exceptionally large margins, sumptuously rich color that is beautifully contrasted by the bright blue c.d.s. postmarks, an
extremely fine gem in every respect; collectors of classic United States stamps know that all of the Five Cent values of the 1861-67 Issues are notorious for being tightly margined and poorly centered, the "F" Grill stamp being particularly
challenging, which is why a superbly centered and margined stamp such as this is so special; 1997 PF certificate and a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $7,850.00); the highest grade the PSE has awarded to any #95, being one of only two to
share this impressive grade. (Image) |

centered within considerably wider margins than of what is normally expected on the 24c value, strong rich color and a well defined impression, even its perforations are out of the ordinary, being long and intact all around, attractive circle of
wedges cancel, an extremely fine; a stunning gem for the finest used collection; 1986 and 1994 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $11,600.00); one of only two to achieve this grade, the highest in the PSE

#103, 2c Black re-issue, nicely centered amid large margins, deep color and a well incised impression on bright paper, unusually light duplex cancel, very fine;
there are less than twenty confirmed used Two Cent 1861 Re-issues, with about half of those having faults to some degree, resulting in sound very fine copies such as the example offered here being extreme rarities; accompanied by 1967 and 2002
PF certificates; ex-Stollnitz, Drucker. (Image) |

#104, 3c Brown red re-issue, a highly desirable example of this extraordinarily rare used re-issue, with deep luxuriant color and a prooflike impression on crisp
white paper, attractively centered within large margins, duplex cancel, slightly short perf. at right and just the barest hint of a paper wrinkle at top right, very fine; of the approximately seventeen recorded used copies, only seven are
sound (with this being included among that group), therefore this is one of the most desirable used Three Cent 1861 Re-issues available; clear 1980 PF certificate. (Image) |

#107, 12c Black re-issue, perfectly centered within lavishly large margins all around, stunning color that is remarkably deep and intense, prooflike impression on
fresh paper, oval grid cancel, an extremely fine gem. There are only thirteen recorded used copies of the Twelve Cent 1861 Re-issue, of which only five are sound. The Collier example is, without question, the finest of those five sound copies. In
fact, it is one of the finest quality used examples of any 1861 Re-issue. This stamp was recently submitted to the Professional Stamps Experts for grading, where it received by far the highest grade for a used #107, and is accompanied by a note from
master grader William Litle, which says "perhaps 98 if not for the cancel". We feel this cancel is no more heavy or objectionable than what is typically found on re-issues, plus it helps to confirm the stamp's contemporaneous usage.A stamp for
the collector who demands only the very finest quality available. Accompanied by a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $40,100.00); this is the highest grade ever given to a used #107 (the next highest being a mere 80), and is the only example
to be given the grade of XF-Superb 95; ex-Sheriff, Zoellner. (Image) |

#108, 15c Black re-issue, an enormously rare and desirable sound used example of this popular re-issue, well centered within large margins, intense "jet" black color
and a deeply etched impression, relatively light cancel when compared to most other used copies, very fine. The are only ten used examples of the Fifteen Cent 1861 Re-issue recorded. This is identical in number to the used 24c Re-issue. This
miniscule number is less than any of the other values except the extremely rare 90c value (five recorded examples). Even the 30c has fourteen recorded copies despite its higher catalog value. Furthermore, it is doubtful that more than half of the ten
known 15c stamps are sound. The example offered here is one of the four or five sound examples available to collectors and represents a great opportunity to acquire a used stamp that often does not come on the market for long periods of time.
Accompanied by a 2009 PSE certificate (F-VF 75; not priced in this grade); this is the only used #108 in the PSE population report; ex-Sheriff, Zoellner. (Image) |
